All the residents of the Urkizu neighbourhood, along with the neighbourhood association Alurtxiki and the Council of Tolosa have organised a three-day program to celebrate the sanpedros (festival of St. Peter). An event for enjoying nature with your family, as most of the activities are targeted at children.

Natural environment

The neighbourhood of Urkizu in Tolosa, located at the foot of Mount Hernio, just over 500 metres high, offers beautiful panoramic views. From there, it is possible to view the valley of Oria, Uzturre, the Sierra de Aralar, and Tolosa itself.

In addition to its natural environment, ideal for enjoying the mountain, one of the greatest attractions of Urkizu is the church of San Pedro, built in the 16th century. Its entrance is surprising, as entry to the hermitage is through the fronton court (used for Basque pelota).

To reach Urkizu, you need a car, as it is 8 kilometres away and doesn´t have a bus line. You need to take the GI-2634 road which goes to Azpeitia, and shortly after you have to turn right, and head along the GI-3714 road, which cuts off at Urkizu. Another option is to travel there on foot, following the path of Lizardi, to enjoy its views.
